Musical Memories: The World of Herman Darewski

02 February 2019 - 30 March 2019 Treasure House Herman Darewski was musical director at Bridlington Spa for 9 summer seasons during the 1920s and 30s. He also wrote songs for West End theatre and ran a music publishing business in London. This exhibition shines a light on his fascinating world.

14 March 2019 Treasure House Each Tiny Treasures session has a different play focus to encourage exploration of our museum and art gallery. This session includes messy paint-based play, a portrait craft, and lots of other exploration based on people and portraiture.

Broadside On: Echoes from the Shipyard

06 April 2019 Beverley Guildhall This play by Gordon Meredith, with original music by Wai Wan, tells the story of the Beverley Shipyard in the words of the men who worked there. The play was originally commissioned by Stage4Beverley.

27 April 2019 Beverley Guildhall Hear the stories behind the paintings of Beverley's only Royal Academician, Fred Elwell [1870-1958]. His subjects ranged from Royalty to kitchen maids, landscapes to still life. He travelled in this country and abroad but he loved Beverley.

22 May 2019 Beverley Guildhall Within the area of the Yorkshire Nature Triangle (Bempton and Flamborough to the North Cave Wetlands and Spurn) there are nearly 30 nature reserves preserving many different habitats. This talk mainly deals with birds but some flowers and mammals.

29 June 2019 Beverley Guildhall The opening of the Hull to Bridlington railway in 1846 caused much local trepidation, but what was its impact? The talk will look at the station, the goods yards, railway workers, signal boxes and perhaps the greatest bane of all - level crossings!
